CORONA-MGA
The MGA-system with all its advantages at a glance
With CORONA-MGA the hubergroup presented the world's first low migration printing ink system for conform food packaging.
CORONA-MGA inks and varnishes are organoleptically neutral containing only non migrating substances or substances with migration potential which are rated for food contact.
Food Producers are perfectly prepared to comply with the statutory regulations for consumer protection if they use the MGA-System for printing their product packaging.
CORONA-MGA® inks
- have low migration, -odor and -swelling properties;
- reduce the inevitable migration from the coating of rated substances or additives from the printed packaging to the food to a minimum
- contamination of primary products of raw material is considered;
- compliance with the threshold of 10 µg/kg in the food for toxicological not rated substances according the demand of the EuPIA Guideline coming into force in 2015
- patented by the European Patent Office
- contain binders based on renewable raw material
- solely setting by penetration on absorbent substrates, like card board and therefore require inline finishing with ACRYLAC-MGA aqueous coating
- contain pigments in compliance with the resolution AP(89)1/EEC
- are available as Pantone and CRS ink mixing systems
- formulated and produced according to strict GMP specifications
- in quality control analytically tested for contamination
CORONA-MGA® silver and gold
- low migration and low odor properties ensured by using special raw material
- uncomplicated processing in the printing unit
- application information provided in technical data sheets
ACRYLAC-MGA® water based coatings
- selected and tested raw material
- formulated especially for MGA-inks
- separate production areas free of contamination
More safety for food packaging by means of the hubergroup MGA-guarantee
- Ink constituent migration testing is not required if processed according to printers GMP on a suitable substrate.
- Migration values are significantly lower than legal migration limits for food packaging
- In many cases additional functional barriers, like e.g. inner laminate or bags, can be omitted
- The folding box can be used as primary packaging, i.e. only one packaging material
- Folding boxes, printed with CORONA-MGA inks, inline coated with ACRYLAC-MGA water-based coatings are safe packaging referring to legal requirements
The guideline for „Good Manufacturing Practice“ (GMP) for articles of daily use and foodstuff requires continuous optimisation of the entire process chain. Every single production step and every used substance has to be compliant with the GMP standard and documented in a production log. Key word: batch traceability.
The production of GMP-compliant printing ink imposes special technological requirements. Conventional production processes don't fulfill these requirements. To avoid contamination by conventional inks components, the hubergroup has invested in new GMP-compliant production facilities to produce MGA inks and coatings for food packaging printing. These production facilities are fully separated from all other production areas in order to avoid cross contamination.
- The production plant in Ireland produces binder, concentrates, and process colour inks.
- The Munich plant produces special inks from a mixing system.
- Other MGA mixing stations are located in Germany, Switzerland, UK, Italy, Poland (soon)
